lovesick, yea we are!

THANKS for coming to remix this week! It was so cool to see so many of you and meet some many new people. Just want to remind you that we are off next week for Thanksgiving break and our ext remix will be back Dec. 3. You get to ask the questions next as we finish the lovesick series, that will be fun!

We have all been lovesick at some point in our life! Well if you have not been there yet, you will! This week we hit looked at dating from the perspective of why we place all our energy on that one area of our life. Why do we allow it to consume us and mess with our relationships with our family and friends? If you missed it you can go check out our podcast, just search for relevant student ministry in the Itunes store and catch up. This is the verse that we really focused on this week...
12 Someone may say, "I'm allowed to do anything," but not everything is helpful. I'm allowed to do anything, but I won't allow anything to gain control over my life. (I Cor. 6:12 GW)
Our hope is that you will find balance in your life when it comes to dating, romance, and relationships! God has given you significant relationships wit your family, friends, your lifegroup, the people you work with, the guys on your baseball team. Those relationships should not suffer because you are consumed with dating...there can be balance. Go check out the podcast if you missed it!

are you obsessed?

We launched the lovesick series this week MIXED it up! Thanks doing your lifegroups in the middle of the night and not the end. It was really cool to change things up. We all need help when it comes to the opposite sex. There is nothing wrong with dating until it crosses the line into obsession. When we obsess over relationships we lose sight of who God made us to be. This series we are gonna try to find that balance of honor God and having dating relationships that honor God. It is not about not dating! It is about learning how God wants you to relate to that other guy or girl. This week we just want you to look at your life and test yourself and your relationships. It is going to be a great series.

LIFEGROUPS...we have a chance to serve our community this month by serving the Salvation Army. On Nov. 22 remix is helping with bell ringing at St. B Wal-Mart from 10AM-8PM. We have 2 hours blocks open all day and we would love for your group to help out. If you are interested email us at office@gcomchurch.com

new series this week!

Crave was great! Thanks to everyone who plugged into CRAVE 08. You can check out pictures and some video footage from CRAVE on our facebook group. If you have pics go ahead and upload them on the group also. ALSO - this week at REMIX was great. It was so cool to be able to finish the GodView series and embrace the idea that God is never meant to be controlled. He is big and His job is being God. We live amazing lives when we embrace an ever expanding view of God.

This week we launch a new series called Lovesick! There's something pretty amazing about being in love, isn't there? The butterflies in your stomach. The dreamy gazes. No wonder so many of us are so in love with being in love. But if you look around--in the media, at school, in life--we've taken what God created and twisted it, morphed it and configured it into something it was never meant to be--an obsession. When romantic relationships become an obsession, balance goes out the window. We miss out on opportunities and experiences we might otherwise have had. And sometimes we even forget who we are. There's got to be healthier way to do this. There's got to be another way than being so lovesick. Check out this LOVESICK this Wed. at REMIX!
