Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from the Relevant team! Relevant and Remix are on Christmas break since next week (Dec. 16!) is finals week and we don't schedule events on exam weeks. Yes we want you to rock it in school. We want to thank you for an amazing fall and let you know we are so excited about what is to come in 2010. We feel like this coming year has the potential to be our nest year of ministry yet and we are going to lead you to live out your faith in adventurous way. We will be back January 6 ready to take 2010 on full force. We pray you have an amazing Christmas break. See you in 2010!

FINAL week of REMIX / Dec. 9!

Ok, we are shocked also. This has been an amazing fall and we are coming to a close of Fall 2009 for REMIX. Yes, December 9 is our final REMIX of 2009. Why you ask? The next week is exam week for all of you and we made a choice a few years back that we would not make that week more complicated. So what to do...BE AT REMIX December 9! We want to pack the place out, celebrate one more time in 2009, and get ready for Christmas break. Hopefully you and your small group will get together over the break and connect BUT this coming Wednesday is a big week and we want you there.

ALSO, if you to to www.gcomchurch.com you can sign up to help with our bell ringing effort for the Salvation Army. These guys do amazing work in helping the poor in our community, let's support them as they serve others! This Christmas Season look for ways you can serve your community, your friends, and your family. GIVE BACK!

Last week of the TEN series

This is our final week of the TEN series at REMIX. Every week I have been blown away by how God has shaped our view of the Ten Commandments and how clear His love for us becomes. This week we wrap up the series and look at how the TEN actually elevate every one's worth. In His list of important things to tell us about life He reveals that we are called to love and serve others just like we love and serve God. It is going to be a great week. Hopefully we will have the final podcasts up for the series soon. Catch up, check it out.

Next week is Thanksgiving so there is no REMIX next week. Hope you have a great week with your family. Our final 2 REMIX weeks of 2009 will be Dec. 2nd and 9th so make plans to be there for our final series of the year. Have a great Thanksgiving!

CRAVE parent update 2!

Saturday was a terrific day at crave. We started the morning out a little sluggish from lack of sleep, but God had plans for the day so that didn't last long. Clay started our morning session helping us understand how we can use our stuff to invesr in eternity. Ask your teen about this. I think they'll give you specific examples that God has laid on their hearts. In our consumeristic society it's all about getting more and having the best, and rarely do we think about how we can give our possessions, time and talents away in order to do what's most important-showing Jesus to the world.We decided to hit the aquarium after lunch and that was great fun. We has some good time to hang out with one another in the afternoon.Last night Clay spoke with us about the fact that there is an enemy out there whose single desire is to destroy us. When we fall down or get pushed down in life we can choose anger or apathy, but God's desire is for us to choose to stand again. The students spent time in small groups sharing how God can turn us from despair to repair.

We have one more session this morning where Michael will speak about relationships and moving from lust to love. We'll be heading out at lunch time. Our prayer is that your teen will come home ready to share with you exactly what God has done on their hearts this weekend. It is evident that God has made Himself known in fresh and exciting ways. Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your child's spiritual journey. We look forward to seeing you home this evening and watching God use your teen to build His kingdom.

CRAVE09 Parent Update

Live from CRAVE09, here is our parent update from day 1 of the retreat! More to come tonight!

Remix at gatlinburg is in full force. The students showed up ready to encounter God. It was evident people have been praying for this weekend and the teens who are here. The David Glen band lead us in an exciting time of worship. Clay Scroggins had an immediate connection with our teens. He shared with us the concept of ME VS. WE, what life can look like when we stop constantly thinking about ourselves and begin thinking about God's plan for our lives and others. With everyone a little tired, yet excited for the day, we're ready for what God has in store for us today. Pray that God would create intimacy in small groups and students would be active participants in seeking their Creator. It is evident God is ready to revolutionize the lives of some students this weekend. We'll have another post in the morning. We've got 2 sessions and the Aquarium today. It's gonna be a great day. Thanks for praying.

crave 09 // filling UP!

Last night at REMIX we hit week 2 of the TEN series and we talked about the idea that the most important choice we make in life is what we place at the center of our life! When God gave the Ten, the Ten Commandments, he gave them to us know He wanted a relationship first. With that relationship God wants to be at the center of our lives. Hope everyone had an amazing week off with Fall Break. We were back in action last night at REMIX and it was great to see so many of you there. We started the TEN series last night as we try to figure out what Ten Commandments have to show us today as we follow Christ. Rules reveal a ton about the character of the rule give. The Ten Commandments reveal so much about the heart of God. Last night we talked about how God places relationship before rule. new series // not that into you

This coming Wednesday at REMIX we start a new series called Not That Into YOU! Every one of us has experienced it at some point. At one time, we were really into a relationship, whether that's a friendship or a dating relationship and now, well, not so much. We're just not that into it anymore. So we walk away or we let the relationship die. But what happens when that relationship you're not that into anymore is the one you have with God? You were really into Him at one point. You were feeling connected, directed, close. Now it feels like nothing. How do you deal with it? Make you you make it out to REMIX for the start of this series this coming Wednesday!

Final night of the NEW FRIEND REQUEST series coming this week!

We all have friends, we all need friends, but friendship can be complicated. Last night we looked at the idea that the friendship was meant to be about GIVING not just GETTING. We tend to look at friends and rate them on what they do for us. How do they help us? What can I get from them? That kind of friendship is not what God is calling us toward. Jesus revealed the idea of serving our friends. Of showing up in their life ready to give them our time, attention, and loyalty. The question this week is will you serve those you are closest to? Hope you make it out for the final week of New Friend Request next week!

We are excited that we are reaching into multiple schools and areas of town with our weekly gathering. Our heart is to reach students in this city. 2nd location of remix LAUNCHED!

It really happened. Last night REMIX / exit one got launched and they had a great first night. Thanks to everyone who came out for that first night and BIG props to Ryan Millard and the team of volunteers that made it happen. Our hope is to reach teens in this city and this is one big step we are excited about taking. RELEVANT is here for families in our city not just a single church. We are stoked we get to be a small part of this movement.

We launched our series NEW FRIEND REQUEST this week and it was incredible to see teens talk about the first session in small group. We all want friends! The question for us is how do we manage the friendships God has given us. Make sure you hit the podcast if you missed the message.

2nd REMIX location coming THIS WEEK!

Wow, it was a great night at REMIX. Thanks to all of you who came out to hang out last night. We are so honored you allow us to be a part of your life. Last night we tossed out the idea that WE were made to SERVE. God made you to be a difference maker. We hope this week you will think about where you can serve in your church and school. We hope you will come Sunday to GCC and sign up for an Operation Serve project. WE LAUNCH THE 2nd REMIX LOCATION at EXIT ONE THIS WEEK! Yes, this week we launch a location on the north side of Clarksville. Remix / exit one and Remix / St. B are designed so you can find a safe place to connect with God, with others, and rethink God. Small groups launched at REMIX

Small Groups at REMIX launched this week! It was so incredible to see all of you connect with your group leaders and each other. Last night we launched 13 groups and our prayer is that this year you will find a place to belong and become what God has made you for. Thanks to all of you who make REMIX a place you gather and connect each week. This upcoming week we are going to reveal what we hope our weekly gathering and small groups will lead to. We hope REMIX will be a launching pad for students serving others. Come next week and check out what God wants to do through us. Following Christ is not just about what we say we believe it is also about what we do with time on earth we are given.

Remix is back!

Our first REMIX back was an amazing night. Thanks so much to all of you who came out. The crowd at REMIX blew us all away. Thanks for taking time out to be with us. The new REMIX band did an amazing job and we want to thanks Will Mckelvy for leading! One final big thanks goes out to our REMIX small group leaders. Our new leaders are going to make a great team!

Remix is back!

The first day of school was TODAY! The summer went by so fast, but now it's time to get the year rolling! We couldn't be more excited at Relevant to be kicking off the Fall season, and we have a lot of awesome stuff planned for you this semester.

time to re-launch

This summer has been so awesome here at Relevant! We've had camps, mission trips, connect events, and trips to Six Flags. It's been great to connect with so many new students this summer, and watch as so many of our students make decisions to pursue God and His plan for their life.

As the summer ends, our attention can turn to the fall. Last year we were able to connect with over 300 students through Remix, and we're so excited to see what God is going to do this year in students all across the city. Our passion is engaging students and pointing them to Christ, and we're so excited to continue that this fall!

Remix starts back Wednesday, August 12th @ 7 PM! We hope to see you there!

Remix Series of Poker!

This is a connect event for Middle and High School! Poker Night at the Remix building at 7 PM on Thursday July 23rd.

NO! We are not gambling! If you want to donate a $5 buy in, all the money you give will go towards OJ. I repeat, we WILL NOT be gambling.

This is going to be an awesome night to hang out and connect with each other! Food, drinks, candy, etc will be available so come and connect with us on Thursday July 23rd! Even if you don't want to play poker, you should still come just to hang out!

Connect events for Relevant

It's been an awesome summer so far for Relevant. We've just finished up two awesome weeks of camp for Middle School and High School, and now everyone can start getting settled back down into the normal routine of things. BUT WAIT! We don't want to just end the summer with what happened at camp... we want to build on it! Add to it! Maximize it! Squeeze it! Shoot it! Cu-boot it! We want you to keep connecting with us, but also with each other. To help us do that, we're going to be doing a few different connect events all summer long. Some for High School, and some for Middle School. The first of those will be taking place NEXT WEEK!

For Middle School we'll be going to X-Treme Laser Tag on FT Campbell BLVD on Tuesday, June 30th at 6 PM! Bring 10 bucks that will cover 2 games! We'll be tailgating with Pizza in the parking lot before we play... the pizza is on us! We'll be wrapping up around 7:30!

For High School we'll be having a cookout Thursday, July 2nd at 7 PM at Katie, Scottie, Mackenzie, Julie, and Rog Hill's house! This one is free for you! Hot dogs, Hamburgers, possibly camel and squid will be grilled by Rog! Bring some chips and a 2- liter! Directions will be messaged through Facebook later this week!

Bigstuf CAMP //relevant HS CAMP

There is something about going to the ocean that helps me connect with God. I am telling you there is no place better for me. I think that is why I love taking our High School students at relevant to Bigstuf camp in Panama City FL. We leave in the morning for camp and I ask you to cover us in prayer. We just want God to show up in our lives and make the changes that need to be made. This is one week for us to get away pause so we can hear from our maker. Middle School camp kicking off!

Tomorrow is the big day! 25 of the craziest, most ridiculous, hyper-active, and out of control middle schoolers will be heading to Talladega, AL for Student Life camp. I'm so excited to see what God has planned for us this weekend! It's going to be such an awesome opportunity for our students to connect with God in a real way (not to mention make a ton of "you remember the time when..." type stories.)

Camp is just an opportunity for us to connect with each other and build on what we experience every single week at Remix. Please keep the students and leaders in your prayers this weekend. Pray that we would all be safe, have a great time, and ultimately learn how to live more like Jesus. CONGRAT'S to all our GRADUATES!

Graduating from High School ROCKS, yea it is a big day and we want to send a big shout out to all our friends at relevant who are graduating. We love all of you so much and are so proud of the work you have put in to make it through the experience of High School. You all have so much talent and so many dreams. Our prayer for you is that you love God and love others as you enter this next phase of life. Our relationship with Christ is not tied to a church or ministry, it is personal. Live your faith out as you enter this new time of freedom. The team here at relevant is proud of you and praying for you. Great job!

CAMP IS FULL...yes it is so fun to say that! We filled all our spots for camp and a ton of you are rolling with us to Student Life (MS camp) and Big Stuf (HS CAMP) this summer. As we gathered one more time for the school year and REMIX, I was blown away by all the amazing things God has done in our lives this past year. This has been an amazing year at REMIX and in all of relevant student ministry. Thank you so much for plugging in. We know you could spend your Wednesday nights and Sunday mornings in a 100 different ways but so many of you choose you plug into Remix and Grace Community. We are honored to be able to walk along side of you in your life. To all of our seniors, we love ya and we are praying you live out a life of authentic faith as you enter this next phase of your life. To the REMIX band....you all are amazing. Thanks for setting the tone for years to come. To our REMIX small group leaders, you guys did a great job this year. We can not wait to see all of you back for REMIX 09 this August!

FINAL WEEK of REMIX

We are really excited about this final week of REMIX and all of our summer plans. It has been an amazing year. Thanks so much for going on the journey with us. We launched into the series THE BATTLE WITHIN last night and it was so cool to understand we all struggle with temptation. IT IS OK, we are not messed up but we are targeted by the enemy of temptation. If we cannot get rid of temptation we have to figure out how we deal with it. Welanded last night with the idea that we could not allow temptation to destroy or future or rob us of our faith. I hope this week you will look out for temptation and stop and think before you give in. DO NOT MISS next week as Ben Reed helps us through week 2 of this series.

It was wild to see God work at GCC last Sunday on Easter and once again on Wednesday we got to check out how Jesus SHIFTED how human life was to be lives through the resurrection. That one moment changed everything. Last night we finished the SHIFT series by checking out this new life Christ calls us to live. If you missed it go check out the podcast from last night. The entire series is up now. We have 4 weeks of Remix to go and we already want to thank all of you who have gone on this journey with us. 5 more REMIX!

It was amazing to see all of you this week at REMIX after Spring Break. WE MISSED YOU and were so glad to kick off this SHIFT series. Last night we looked at the life of Jesus and the week before He went to the Cross. That one week week shifted the way man connected with God. Our hope for you this week is that you take some time to actually read the book of Mark (not a long read) and journey with Jesus through this week. Sunday we gather for Easter to celebrate His Resurrection. Lets not forget the price Jesus paid to redeem us! Make plans to be at an Easter service this Sunday and please do not just go through the motions. Lets celebrate Jesus this year.

It is here, we made it to spring break 2009! It has been an amazing year here at RELEVANT and we are so stoked about the rest of the spring and summer. We hope you have a great spring break and we hope to see you this Sunday BUT there is NO REMIX DURING SPRING BREAK! Yes, when you break we give our team of volunteers a break. Let the BREAK begin! MERGE is this weekend and i am so stoked that so many of you are going to be with us for the weekend. MERGE is one of the best events we do here at relevant because the entire weekend is built around you connecting with your LIFEGROUP. It is insane what all goes down and it is so much fun. Why take time to slow down life to PAUSE? Last week we focused on the fact that our bodies were made to take time to PAUSE. We have to have it or we will crash and burn. There is more to it for us than just being emotionally, relationally, and physically healthy. We need to Pause so we can see God at work around us. Yes, God is everywhere! Yes, God is at work in your life! Yes, God will show up in the middle of your mess and you will see Him when you take time to PAUSE. If you missed last night go check out the podcast on itunes. PAUSE

What would it take for you to take time to STOP this week? You know what I mean, just to have time to allow your brain to stop worrying about what was going on that night or the next day or at practice that afternoon. Last night we had the chance to as ourselves that question at REMIX. If you missed it the podcast is up and you can find it by searching for relevant student ministry on itunes. This week we hope you will find time to Pause and just BE, be you, be with God, be free from worry. In our generation we have to have time to STOP the madness of life that is swirling around us and have time to rest and connect with God. Will you slow down? We start a new series at REMIX this week called PAUSE. Do you ever feel like life is moving, or rather, rushing forward at an unsustainable pace? It seems like more often then not, that is just the way things are. But in effort to keep up with everything and everyone around us, it may be that we are missing out on experiencing God's presence. What would take for you to pause? To stop? To just "be," long enough to take note of the living God in the midst of our spinning world? This is going to be a GREAT series to invite people so go for it!

You or your parents can pick up info about MERGE Sunday at GCC also at the student ministry table. You do not want to miss this weekend so mark it down and find a way to get there!

REMIX back Next week with the DOUBT series

Last night was a first in relevant student ministry history...we had to cancel due to weather. right around St. B where we meet for REMIX there were power lines down, traffic lights out, and a few roads with crazy traffic. There was also crazy wind going on so we made the call to not have REMIX. Thanks to everyone for getting the word out so fast. Text messaging is amazing!

WE WILL BE BACK FEB 18 to finish the Doubt series. You do not want to miss this night of REMIX. Let everyone know we are back in business!

NO REMIX TONIGHT due to bad road conditions around St. B and power issues here. We have power but for how long we do not know. All the red lights here are jacked up. STAY HOME, get off the roads tonight and we will see everyone next week.

doubt...a new series asking hard questions!

We launched our new series called Doubt last night. At the beginning of the service we asked people to write out doubts they had and we got an amazing response. Some funny and some serious but the place we landed after looking at the cards was that doubt is something we all have to deal with. Doubt can lead us to belief of it can drive us away from truth. If you missed the night go get the podcast and let us know here at relevant if we can help you though some of the issues you face with doubt. Next week we wrap the series up so do not miss it. The dates for MERGE 09, our spring retreat, are March 20-22. it is a retreat but we stay here in Clarksville, you will hear more about in the coming weeks. Merge is one of those weekends that can change the direction of your life. It is also pretty crazy and we hope you can make it. Registration will go up in a few weeks as well as all the details you need. We cannot wait!

Viva Catie Concet was amazing!

the Viva Catie Concert was an amazing night. You raised over 1,000 dollars to go to the Lance Armstrong Fund! We had around 250 teens, parents, college students, PEOPLE come and hang out last night. You made a difference! Thanks for joining us in the fight against cancer. Look for Viva Catie in 2010! We better get a bigger venue! Thanks to everyone who helped make the VCC a huge night.

We launch a new series at REMIX this next week. Check back this next week for info. We are really excited about it and we think it addresses an issue we all deal with. This will be a great week to invite some folks to check our REMIX. Hope to see you Wednesday!

Viva Catie concert January 29

There will be NO REMIX this week because....the VIVA CATIE CONCERT is this Thursday at St. B Christian 7-9 and we are stoked that we get to dedicate one night to raising money to fight cancer. every Dollar raised Thursday will go to help the Lance Armstrong Fund which supports cancer research. Cancer is a terrible disease and we can do something to fight back. We hope you will take time to be there this coming Thursday. Bands at the show are Mike's Chair, the Daniel Doss Band, The Remix Band, and Jason Roy of Building 429. For one night we unite around this cause in honor of Catie Summers who lived life to the fullest and never allowed cancer to rob her of love for life. Thursday you will learn more about Catie. Join us as we fight this disease!

It is here! 2009 is here and we hope it is an amazing year for you. It was great to see so many of you at REMIX this week. BIG ANNOUNCEMENT...
Relevant Student Ministry is hosting its fist concert on January 29. The best part is it is a concert for a cause. We are holding a benefit to raise money for cancer research. So many of us have been effected by this disease and we just want to take action. We will announce the bands and the name of the show this next week.
